About Cavite

Independence was declared from a balcony in Kawit on 12 June 1898, and Cavite has never let the rest of the country forget that most of the revolution happened here. The province now runs two capitals, Imus on paper and Trece Martires in practice, with Dasmariñas the largest city. Factories and subdivisions have taken most of the land between them and Manila Bay.
