About Bataan

A memorial cross stands on Mount Samat above the peninsula, over the ground where the surrender of April 1942 began the march that most people think of when they hear the name Bataan. The province has spent the eighty years since being more than that, and Bagac rebuilds Spanish-era houses for visitors at Las Casas. Balanga City is the capital, and Mariveles at the tip is the largest town.
