About Biliran

Biliran lies less than a kilometre off the north coast of Leyte, close enough that it spent most of its history as a sub-province and only went its own way in 1992. It is small, volcanic and full of waterfalls, and the ridge of Sambawan Island off its northwest corner is what most visitors come to photograph. About 184,000 people live here, which makes it one of the smallest provinces in the country.
